My Fingers Smell Like Garlic.....

Yes. It's true. My fingers do smell like garlic.

Tonight I was asked by a fellow teammate to make him dinner. So being the super busy person I am I naturally didn't have time.......... Oh wait.......... I had all the time in the world! So I struggled last night to find a recipe that

1. Sounded delicious.

and perhaps more importantly

2. Was easy to make.

Now I am perhaps not the most creative when it comes to my cooking because most of all I absolutely can't stand going to the store and buying 50 ingredients to make 1 meal for just me. If say, I was cooking for a whole family, or even just two. I would have the motivation to cook something other than BBQ chicken and noodles, hamburger helper, or spaghetti.

So When deciding what to make, my tastebuds began to go crazy when I remembered Noodles & Company's Pesto Cavatappi with Chicken. MMMM MMMMM MMMMMM!!!! SOOOO delicious!

It seemed easy enough so teammate and I went to the grocery store, bought the supplies and began the process. Now during the process I had to cut up a garlic clove (that's what they're called right?)

And now... 4 hours later, along with multiple hand washings, my fingers still REEK of garlic!!

I think the pasta turned out pretty good.. Never as good as the real thing though, but what can you do?...

Teammate said this was a test of my womanhood.. He decided I was a tween.. Boooo... I disagree, he just has less advanced taste buds!

I Don't Mean to Toot My Own Horn BUT...........

BEEP BEEP BEEP TOOT TOOT TOOT BEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cute pic found here.

Let me tell you a little story.

So last night I was up pretty late and didn't get much sleep. So when 7:00 am rolled around I was seriously considering playing a little hooky from school and sleeping in.

But instead I said to myself, "Self. You better get your old bones out of bed and get to class!"

And boy was it a good decision.

When I got to my English class this morning I was sitting with a few friends chatting, when my teacher walked in, looked at me, and said,
"Maggie can I talk to you in the hall for a second?"

Dun

Dun

DUN

I walked out to the hall, trying to think back on the past few weeks, if I had done something that warranted such a discussion...

Nothing came to mind....

"I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me reading your paper to the class.. It was really good and I would like to use it as an example.." My teacher asked me.........

WHAT?!!?!

I obviously said of course I didn't care. But MY paper was exceptional in her mind? The best in the class? I didn't even feel like it was my best work....

So might I say I've been walking with an extra hop in my step all day and tooting my horn everywhere I go...

Rightfully so I think =)

PS. Today is Taco Bell Tuesday-- what shall I get?

PSS. Roommate Brie and I decided to create Mihama Monday last night.. A nice little teriyake joint down the street. It was delicious I got the chicken teriyake plate and a Mr. Pibb.. They even gave us free green tea ice cream because our food took so long.

Hero.

My mom is a stud. Plain and simple.

Her Urban Dictionary Definition found here, describes her perfectly!

Sherry \sh(er)-ry\ is pronounced SHARE-ee. The name is of English origin. Variation of the French "chérie" meaning "beloved". Women with this name are often described as kind, intelligent, mysterious, elegant and sexy. Usually of the most intriguing and beautiful people in the world.

Mon chérie, je vais toujours vous adore.
My beloved, I will always love you.

Sherry is so many things, but mostly she's amazing!!!

My mom and I a couple years ago. (When I dyed my hair brown).

Today she ran in the Boston Marathon. This is absolutely insane to me.

I did a half marathon when I was a senior in high school but I could never even dream of doing the full thing!

The Boston Marathon is extra awesome because you have to qualify to run in it.

So yes, this makes my mother extra awesome because she was fast enough to qualify for it!!

I couldn't tell you how many she has done now, but I think it's starting to get up there.. I she's done two in Colorado, the Portland, New York, Boston twice, and I think Chicago, and probably there's a few that I'm missing in there.

In case you're about to compute and start thinking about how much running that is.. I'll help you out and let you know it's a TON!!!!

There is so much training that goes into running marathons that by the time you get to the actual race you have to be soooooooo drained!

I don't know how she does it!

So today's post is dedicated to my hero.

My mom running in front of the pacer in some marathon. No Big Deal Really. =)

My mother.

Not just because of her studly running abilities, but also because of the woman she is.

Dear Mom,

You are such a strong and loving mother. I look up to you in so many ways and hope I grow to be half the woman you are. You are my hero. Seriously. I'm so lucky to have a mom like you.

I love you mom.

P.S. Can I just say one thing? Isn't my mom a babe?! Bonifide Hottie if I do say so myself.

Why Hello There.

Today the sun decided to poke out from behind the clouds.

For most this is not a rare thing to happen, but going to school in the Northwest you begin to appreciate every minute's worth of sunshine during the winter and spring.

It's amazing how much the sunshine changes my attitude. I hate to admit it but there is a drastic change. When it's gloomy out I can't help but be lazier and not as cheerful as I am when the sun comes out.

On sunny days though I walk with a little more pep, get ready (wear something other than sweats), and actually look forward to going to track practice.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind the occasional gloomy day, but we can go for a full week without sunshine and that can take a toll on a girl!

All this sunshine has made me long for summer weather! It's so nice here in the summer I can't wait!

Shhhhhhhh!!!

Isn't this baby darling?

Do you ever get sick of your own voice?

Those who know me might think this is an impossible event to occur in my life seeing as how I

1. Talk non-stop.

and

2. Like to sing at the top of my lungs at every possible moment.

Today though I think I have reached my limit and yes, I am sick of hearing my voice!

That is all.

P.S. After some thought, perhaps it was the 2 hours of America the Beautiful renditions I did today around lunch time?

Maybe someday......

I love everything going on with Miley Cyrus right now.

From the chunky black heels, to the long sleeved sexy short dress, necklace, clutch, and hair she looks simply marvelous.

Why can't I pull off a look like this?

Whenever I try to curl my hair into effortless waves like this it somehow looks nothing like this.

I wish I could wear a cute dress with chunky heels out on the town but I just don't think I can pull it off.

I'm lucky if I make it out of a sweatshirt for a day. Something about knowing I have to go to track and I will only be out and about for a few hours takes the mo out of my motivation.

Maybe someday.... Here's to hoping!

Taco Bell Tuesdays

Every Tuesday night after my sister Rosie and I get done with track practice, Danny (sister's fiance) gets home from work, and Brie (roommate) gets home from class, we all hop in the car and make the mile and a half drive to Taco Bell.

Me, Brie (roommate), Danny (sister's fiance), and Rosie (sister) at a Rodeo a couple months ago. Danny and I both won the raffle!!! =)

The sad thing about being college students is our bank accounts =(

The great thing about Taco Bell is it's just as cheap to eat there as it is to make something at home! =)

Therefore our bank accounts stay happy and so do our bellies!

I love Taco Bell Tuesdays. I usually get a combination of one or more of the following.

1. 1/2 Pound Beef and Potato Burrito
2. Cheesy Gordita Crunch
3. Bean and Cheese Burrito with Green Sauce
4. Medium Pepsi or Dr. Pepper

I recommend each of these as a meal choice when dining at Taco Bell. =)

Do you have any favorite Taco Bell items you get and recommend?

Water Aerobics

Today, I spent about 30 minutes recounting the weeks until summer.

My mom, sister and I at the beach a couple years ago.

One of my favorite things about summer is the time I get to spend down there in LA (Lower Alabama) =)Every year my family and I go down to Gulf Shores, AL and spend some time watching the waves crash and having the only thing on our schedules every day be walking the 10 steps from the porch to the sand and waves.

It's always so nice to spend a few weeks relaxing, catching some much needed sun rays, and getting lost in a few books.
Dodies about to hit the sand.

One thing I absolutely adore though is the time I get to spend with my Grandma, Dodies. I always fly down a few days before my folks to spend some much needed time with the good ole' Dodes. When we were younger this time was spent going to the Explorium, and painting ceramics at those pottery shops.

But for the past two years these activities have whimpered in the corner compared to the magnitude of the greatness of......

You guessed it,

WATER AEROBICS!!!!

Now you might be laughing right now, but this is not a laughing matter. I am a lover of water aerobics and I look forward to the time I get to spend with my grandma and her country club pals in the pool every summer.

I must admit, going into it the first time, I thought, 'This will be easy', seeing as how I'm an athlete.

But let me tell you, they were the ones laughing when I could barely stay afloat.

The best part of water aerobics though is the people. They are so happy to see me every year and catch up on my life and what I've been doing. They love to have a younger girl in there swimming around with them. The instructor always thanks me for coming and acts like I am doing it out of kindness for my grandma. But the reality is I beg her to take me with her and love every minute of it!

Do you have any fun memories with your grandparents, or summer traditions?

I'm Ashamed of My Blogging.......

PLEASE FORGIVE ME!!!

I hope this sad little puppy will help persuade you to forgive me for not blogging for almost a year! If I was sitting in front of you right now I'd be making this exact same face because I cannot believe how terrible I have been. I read multiple blogs daily, and even convinced my sister to make her own blog and yell at her when she doesn't post on it for more than 3 days. And here I am a snobby blog reader and I don't even write on my own blog. So I have made a promise to myself and my blog readers, (probably just my sister) I will blog as often as possible and won't abandon it again! So here's to starting this blog again!
